San Diego Burgers

nessy burger on dash

A burger should be something that accentuates the meat, which may seem obvious but most places get it ass-backwards and try to do all kinds of stupid things with their burgers like put carmelized corn with rare sheep's liver and call it "california burger" and forget to also include a nice piece of hamburger meat. Most places seem to think that the hamburger is something they can just charge $10 for and serve up a junked out crapburger with some unexciting fries and expect diners to just sit back and take it in the rear and shell out their hard earned cash.

Listen up, Gordon Biersch brewery San Diego, I'm talking to you, stop serving piles of mule dung on buns and call them hamburgers and then try to get me to give you like $15 for it, and I don't care how good your beer is.

Same goes for most any chain restaurant, any junk diner who doesn't care about their customers, and most every other person in the world. Cut it out!

Just kidding just kidding, relax relax.

San Diego has some good burgers kids, sit here and watch me eat them and talk about them for years to come or until my Zetia pills stop working.

Good burgers I've had in SD: Nessy Burger, In-And-Out, Rocky's Pub, Fatburger, Western Steakburger, and sometimes the Australian Pub

Bad Burgers: Gordon Biersch (come on dudes, step it up), Red Rooster, Chili's, Burger King, Parkhouse Eatery (review below)

I hear Hodad's is sweet too, but I showed up there on the weekend and was put off by the hordes of open-mouthed college students standing in line throwing footballs to each other. Maybe I'll check it out sometime. Any others?

Nessy Burger - One of the best burgers in or near San Diego can be found at this outdoor stand at the crossroads of highways 76 and 15 in the middle of nowhere. Get here now.

UCSD Hillcrest Hospital Cafeteria - Well here's one for starts, and I'm not joking either, like 100x better burger than Gordon Biersch, and you get a little local flavor/color added to the mix, check out my review above.

Parkhouse Eatery - Despite their menu saying this burger was "the real Thang!" their burger was like the wrong thing. Like as much from the real thing as you can get. And it cost $12. Nessy is like $3.50 and a zillion times better.

Western Steakburger - A good burger made with freshly ground hamburger and charbroiled while you wait. Casual and located on University Ave in the heart of North Park.
